Cancelling your opt-out of early retirement
Have you opted out of the early retirement scheme on a previous occasion and would like to cancel your opt-out?
If you were born before 1 July 1960, you may cancel your opt-out and opt into the early retirement scheme again provided that you meet 3 conditions:
- You must opt into the early retirement scheme at least 15 years before reaching the early retirement age.
- You must have been a member of an unemployment insurrance fund for a continuous period of time:
- From 1 January 1997, if you were born before 1973
- Since your 24th birthday, if you were born in 1973 or later
- You are not eligible for early retirement before the state pension age under the general rules.
You are not allowed to cancel your opt-out of the early retirement scheme if, when you opted out of the scheme, your early retirement funds were paid tax-free to you either in 2012, 2018 or during the first six months of 2022.
When you join the early retirement scheme later than normal, you will not have time to pay as much into the early retirement scheme as others.
Therefore, your early retirement benefits will be reduced by 2% for each full year you have not paid into the early retirement scheme.
For each additional full month you have not paid into the scheme, your rate will be reduced by 2%.
It is not possible to make back-payments into the early retirement scheme.
If you work after having reached the early retirement age, you may claim a tax-free premium.
When you join the early retirement scheme later than normal, you will not have time to pay as much into the early retirement scheme as others.
Therefore, the tax-free premium will be reduced by 4% for each full year you have not paid into the early retirement scheme. For each additional full month you have not paid into the scheme, your rate will be reduced by 0.17%.
